The JunBox
Singer since… I can Speak!
I started around 1998 doing small gigs solo on instrumentals (cover songs).
In 1999 I joined my first band which was mainly covering “The Police” and “Bob Marley” in the parents’ garage of one of them. Less than a year later, I met the “LazyLemon” and we composed rock songs for about 15 years together. We did around 100-150 gigs, had a few different studio recording sessions throughout the years.
Around 2015 with Jo “Lemon” we created the concept “Cover Me Mad” and had a blast covering big rock classics like “Child in Time”, “Echoes”, “Since I’ve been loving you” or “Killing I the name of” with an entertaining visual concept.
For a short while we, along with our buddy David (great bassist), enjoyed playing a more “technical” rock and Metal under the name “Sundays of Icarus”.
Cause Not only could Jo play the guitar like a God, but he learned quickly and very well how to play drums on songs like “Vicarious” (TOOL), “Pet” (A Perfect Circle) or “Sound of Muzak” (Porcupine Tree). Unfortunately, Jo had to put a break on things due to health problems.
Now days, I joined the rock cover Band “Wasn’t Me!”. We have fun covering popular songs like “Creep”, “Money for nothing”, “Psycho killer” or “Sultans of Swing”.
Around 2014, I challenged myself and started to record covers in solo. The goal was to try out all genres possible, learn how to mix, create videos, publish them etc.
I’ve got, as of today, more than 200 covers published on Youtube and am proud to say for each of them, I wore all the hats from the singer/actor to the sound engineer, video producer, script, I learnt so much doing this and am still learning each day.
The best lesson of all being: to Entertain as well in front of the cold camera’s eye solo in my livingroom as I would do in concert in front of a public.
Singer, song writer and entertainer, I adapt quickly, have a good ear and love participating in jam sessions especially if it’s pure “improvisation” with motivated musicians
My Influences :
Raised in a multicultural family my musical sources were quite various.
My Mom : French songs like “J. Brel”, “Brassens”, “France Gall”, Renaud”, Starmania,… And 80s pop-rock music.
My Aunt (legal Guardian) : Classical music, Opera, Operetta, folklore and oldies (including Elvis Presley)
My American father : Rock, pop-rock, pop from the 80 & 90ies.
My Godfather : He was an old-school DJ back in the 80s and 90s. Techno, Acid, D&B, Dance, … you named it he had it! He could feel a public’s mood and make them have the best of times on the dancefloor.
As a teenager, I loved dancing on old-school hip-hop, breakdance was so fun !
Young adult my musical brothers made me discover the “rock” genre in all its flavours.
Getting older, through my personal challenge, I’m discovering, appreciating and seem to sing nicely genres like Blues, soul, jazz, oldies and Metal.
